Two legs, one reservation: a round trip takes a passenger out and brings them back, usually on different days and often with a different driver. Airport work is the classic case. A traveller books the ride to the terminal on Monday and the ride home on Thursday in one go.

For the operator a round trip is simply the most common two-leg booking. It matters because the return is the leg that gets lost. The outbound is fresh in everyone's mind. The return is three days away, depends on an inbound flight that may be late, and competes with everything else on that day's board.

The usual mistake is booking the return as a note on the outbound rather than as a leg of its own. Then it never shows on the return date's manifest, no flight is verified, and the customer stands at baggage claim. A round trip should produce two assignable rows from the moment it is confirmed.

How liverybook handles it

The portal booking wizard has a round trip toggle, and turning it on creates a second BookingTrip under the same Booking with its own pickup time, status and price. Each leg is dispatched separately on the run board and each carries its own leg total. When the return starts at an airport, flight verification through AeroDataBox adds a flight badge to that leg. Late-cancel and no-show fees are assessed per leg. See bookings and the customer portal.
