Rate list
Updated
A rate list is a single price card: one row per vehicle class, each with a base rate and the fee rules that go with it. An operator with sedan, SUV, sprinter and motorcoach classes has a four-row rate list. Most operators keep several, such as a standard list, a holiday list and a list negotiated for a large corporate account.
Rate lists are how a company stops pricing from memory. The dispatcher, the sales rep and the customer portal all quote from the same table, and a change made once reaches all of them. They are also the mechanism for account-specific pricing, since a preferred account can be pointed at its own list.
The mistake is editing the live list in place when the season changes. Prices for December go in on November 20th, every quote for the last ten days of November is wrong, and in January someone has to remember to put them back. Rate lists should be dated or scheduled, not overwritten.
How liverybook handles it
Rate lists hold rates per vehicle class, and each rate carries the base rate plus the late-cancel and no-show fee rules (percent of base or flat). Rate lists are not scheduled directly; a rate group rotates rate lists by month, and the portal prices from the tenant's default rate group. Additional fees sit outside the list and are added to the leg as extras, so leg total = base rate + gratuity + tolls + parking + wait time charge + extras − discount. See billing.
