Proposal

Updated

A proposal is the quote with a signature line. Where a phone quote is a number, a proposal is a document that lays out the itinerary, the vehicle class, the base rate and the extras, and asks the customer to accept it. Wedding packages, road shows and group charters are almost always sold this way, and the figure is often in the thousands.

Proposals matter because they are where pricing errors become contracts. A proposal that omits gratuity or quotes a February rate for a June wedding is binding once accepted. They also matter for speed: a prospect who receives a clean proposal within an hour of asking usually books, and one who waits two days usually calls someone else.

The common mistake is a gap between proposal and booking. The sales rep sends a PDF, the client emails "yes", and someone re-keys the whole thing into the reservation system. Prices drift, a leg is dropped, and the deposit is recorded in a different place from the trip.

How liverybook handles it

Proposals live in the CRM and are built from the same rate lists and vehicle classes as bookings, with multiple legs if the itinerary needs them. A proposal can be accepted, or accepted with payment through Stripe card collection, and pay-and-convert turns it into a Booking with its BookingTrips in one atomic 9-step transaction, so nothing is re-keyed. A proposal sent email template goes out through the tenant's own credentials, and leads with paid bookings are locked. See CRM.
