Motorcoach
Updated
A motorcoach is the big one: a full-size coach seating roughly 40 to 56 passengers, with underfloor luggage bays, a restroom and a driver who holds a commercial licence with a passenger endorsement. Mini-coaches and shuttle buses sit below it. Sedans and SUVs are a different trade altogether.
Coach work is priced differently from black-car work. Most of it is hourly or by the day, with a minimum of four or five hours, and garage time and dead-head miles matter far more because the vehicle costs so much to move. Driver hours are regulated, so a long charter may need a relief driver. A single coach booking can be worth more than a week of sedan transfers.
Operators who run both fleets often make the mistake of forcing coach bookings into a sedan-shaped form. Passenger counts, multiple vehicles on one order and multi-day itineraries do not fit. The vehicle class needs its own rates, and the booking needs to hold more than one vehicle.
How liverybook handles it
Vehicle classes are a configurable lookup table per tenant, so a motorcoach class sits alongside sedan, SUV and sprinter with its own base rate in every rate list and its own late-cancel and no-show fee rules. The portal booking wizard allows multiple vehicles with quantities on one order, and multi-leg and multi-day itineraries are ordinary bookings with several legs. Hourly charters and as-directed work bill wait time and extras into the leg total. See bookings and charter operators.
