Office seat

Updated

An office seat is one person who logs in to run the business: the owner, a dispatcher, a reservationist, a bookkeeper. A three-person office is three seats. The chauffeurs, however many there are, are not seats, and neither are the affiliate drivers who update statuses on farmed-out trips.

Seat pricing matters because it is the thing that stays flat when the fleet grows. An operator can go from 12 cars to 30 and from 800 trips a month to 2,500 without adding a seat, because the same two dispatchers are working the board. Per-trip models charge more for that growth; seat models do not. It also makes the bill predictable in December, when volume spikes and the office does not.

The common mistake is sharing one login among several people to save a seat. The audit log then shows one name on every change, and when two dispatchers both assign the same trip nobody can tell who did it. Seats are cheaper than the confusion.

How liverybook handles it

Plans are priced per office seat per month, and the tier follows monthly trip volume: Starter at $49 a seat up to 500 trips, Professional at $89 up to 5,000 and Enterprise at $149 above that; there are no per-trip fees and no setup fee on Starter or Professional. A seat is an office login with its own JWT identity, so the audit log on every save and delete names the person. Drivers and affiliate drivers authenticate separately and are never counted. Details are on the pricing page; see also billing.
